The
Mampatti Watershed Project is a sustainable rural development initiative
implemented by Grama Seva Sangam NGO since 2004 in Mampatti,
Pudukkottai. The project focuses on water conservation, soil management, and
improving agricultural productivity through integrated watershed practices.
Spanning
across 16,304.84 hectares, the project has received financial assistance
of ?3,84,29,486 and has made a significant impact on the local ecosystem
and farming community. As part of its green initiatives, 40,348 seedlings
were distributed for plantation, along with 14,148 seedlings under Dry
Land Horticulture.
The
project has successfully benefited over 360,004 farmers, improving
groundwater levels, enhancing crop yield, and supporting sustainable
livelihoods. It stands as a strong example of long-term environmental
conservation and rural empowerment.
